Baltimore City’s Overlooked Vacant Housing Crisis

Vacant Baltimore is a project designed to educate residents and visitors of the city on the current housing crisis, focusing heavily on the abandoned building and vacant home issues facing Baltimore.

Since 1950, America’s largest independent city has seen its population decrease by nearly one-third, and the devastating results can be seen throughout many of the city’s neighborhoods.

There are an estimated 16,000 vacant structures in Baltimore, and roughly two-thirds of them are in need of being demolished for the city’s long-term benefit.
